In the near distant future, A new, innovative technology emerges and becomes commonplace. <>Hard Light Holograms<>, created from a plate that compresses and overlaps electromagnetic waves until they have a pseudo-mass, become massively popular, and become interated into all forms of industry and leisure. The use of this technology has lead to a number of societal and economic changes, as retail work, live-action performance, secretary work, and other jobs that require interaction with a customer or consumer are rapidly becoming replaced with <>HLH<> technology. On the other hand, a new kind of augmented reality emerges, able to blend virtual reality into the physical world, without the need for wearable technology or a specialised area for play. Among some of the games developed for this technology is a creature-capturing and battling game, where humans become companions with "Holos" - creatures that wield incredible strength and magic powers, and have the capacity to transform.

But that was the old world. The world before <>The Reformatting<>. And some people were happy with the old world; they had lives to live, stakes to claim, the good, the bad, and everything neither and between. None of that matters anymore - Earth is no more, there is only <>The Holosphere<>.

In the Holosphere, people and <>Holos<> live alongside eachother, as they have for millenia. While humans all look somewhat homogeous by comparison, Holos exist in <>a wide variety of shapes, sizes, abilities and personalities<>. While humans experience changes to themselves slowly, Holos are capable of <>Metamorphosis<>, sudden and rapid physiological changes as a result of many different factors, to better survive those factors. Humans and Holos are eachother's companions, rivals, compatriots, and friends. They help eachother, using their combined skills and knowledge to perform a great number of tasks. Recently, <>Holo duels<> have become a popular sport, as Holos compete to show off who's power is stronger, and who's bond with their human is truly unbreakable. Fighting isn't all there is to do in the Holosphere though - there are Holos and Humans who stay in the settlements, performing all manner of tasks together from building to cooking to transportation, to arts and sciences, and sometimes just simply giving eachother company. And there are those who leave the settlements, to explore the world and document its wonders, and make friends with all sorts of Holos.

There are still those out there who remember their lives before The Reformatting. Some who wish to make sense of their new lives, some who are still managing their teething pains, and some who want to turn the world back. Can you blame them? How do you handle your whole world suddenly, rapidly, wildly changing?

Series Overview

Holosphere is a cartoon series I am developing for adults between 18-30. It takes place in a world inpired by Pokémon, Digimon, Yo-kai Watch, and other creature-capturing games and series, and I'm hoping to capture an audience of people who also used to (or still do) enjoy these worlds, but are looking for a more intellectual experience. I am intending for the main themes of the show to be unexpected change, loss and re-evaluation of goals, technological fads and their impact on culture, and exploring humanity's relationships with eachother and the world around us. I want to create a rich world and full-faceted characters that both celebrate and challenge all the similar worlds that have inspired me, without being needlessly crass or "edgy".

The series follows three perspectives (or two and a half) - <>X<>, who is one of the few people who remembers the world before The Reformatting (The event that caused the older, more familiar world to be transformed), <>Y<>, their cousin and former roommate, who is fully integrated into the Holosphere and is even companions with their own Holo called <>Flickermouse<>, and Z, X's child who was transformed into a Holo. X and Y travel the land, while Z provides a persepctive of home life.
