Rocket Fruit Skewers
An old summer favorite of mine, slightly modified for Moon Day! Dont forget the marshmallows!
Ingredients
- Your choice of 3-5 kinds of fruit
- Marshmallows
- Wooden skewers
Method
- Cut your fruit into 1-inch pieces. Cut one kind of fruit into triangles (or if using strawberries or cone-shaped fruit, just wash them)
- Load a marshmallow onto the skewer, pushing it down until there's an inch between it and the blunt end of the skewer.
- Layer your square-shaped fruit and marshmallows on the skewers in alternating layers. For instance, you can arrange them as marshmallow, apple, watermelon, marshmallow, apple, watermelon, etc.
- Once you have only and inch of space left on the skewer, cap it off with your triangle- or cone-shaped fruit.
- Serve and enjoy!
Tips
- There are so many ways to serve these! You can drizzle them with sweet sauces, dip them in chocolate, roll them in sherbet, turn them into tanghulu, or just eat them as is!
- You can also use a slice of fruit cut into fins, crescents, or chevron shapes to use as the base of the rocket. Lots of people use different kinds of melons or pineapple, but you could also use a nice firm peach slice (peaches were the first food to be consumed in orbit of the moon!)
- You'll want to make a lot of these. No matter what event or who I'm serving to, they always get devoured...
