Butterspice Rice

Something I made when I was fooling around with some leftover rice. I like serving this alongside my meatloaf. It makes for both a really tasty snack, and a great way to add carbs to your meal! I also have a sweet version that's more like a pudding here!

Ingredients

  • Leftover rice (The dryer the better)
  • Butter (or substitute)
  • Dash of olive oil
  • Spices:
    • Garlic Powder
    • Onion Powder
    • Curry Powder
    • Ground Ginger
    • Ground cayenne pepper
    • White pepper
    • Salt

Method

  • In a pan, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat
  • Once butter is melted, add spices. Play around with the ratios - you may want it to be spicier or more savoury, or even sweeter
  • Once spices are will incorperated, add rice. Keep it moving to avoid it sticking to the pan.
  • Once rice is crisp, take off the heat and serve!

Tips

  • If you're rice isn't dry enough, try the fried rice trick - Lay your rice out on a baking tray, and stick it in the oven on low heat for a few minutes.
  • The spices I use in this recipe are pretty mild. Find spices that are to your taste.
