Butterspice Rice
Something I made when I was fooling around with some leftover rice. I like serving this alongside my meatloaf. It makes for both a really tasty snack, and a great way to add carbs to your meal! I also have a sweet version that's more like a pudding here!
Ingredients
- Leftover rice (The dryer the better)
- Butter (or substitute)
- Dash of olive oil
- Spices:
- Garlic Powder
- Onion Powder
- Curry Powder
- Ground Ginger
- Ground cayenne pepper
- White pepper
- Salt
Method
- In a pan, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat
- Once butter is melted, add spices. Play around with the ratios - you may want it to be spicier or more savoury, or even sweeter
- Once spices are will incorperated, add rice. Keep it moving to avoid it sticking to the pan.
- Once rice is crisp, take off the heat and serve!
Tips
- If you're rice isn't dry enough, try the fried rice trick - Lay your rice out on a baking tray, and stick it in the oven on low heat for a few minutes.
- The spices I use in this recipe are pretty mild. Find spices that are to your taste.
