My name is Byrdie! I'm a queer artist based in Naarm/Melbourne, and I specialise in illustration and animation, but I do other stuff too sometimes. I also like writing, cooking, gardening, coding, and playing video games, and I plan on showing off those skills and hobbies here too.
I wanted to start this website to refresh my html and css skills, and give myself a better home on the internet. I'm a Tumblr resident, but like so many other Neocities users, I've become frustrated with how homogenous the internet has become. Now I can customise whatever I want about this site, without needing to stick to a template!
I dream one day of becoming a showrunner for an animated series. You can find my show pitches in the worlds section of the Library. For one-off visual pieces, you can check out the Gallery. And hey, if you're hungry, check out some of my recipes!
Although I work full time, my work is typically contract-to-contract, and I'm not always sure when my next job will begin. Plus, I love making things and would love to make something special for you! If you'd like to support me, these are the two best ways:
I recently started taking commissions through Kofi - My prices are listed below, and in the support tab, with the rest of my outbound links. If you'd like me to design, draw or animate anything of your choosing, please consider checking it out!
I also run a print-on-demand shop out of Threadless! If you have some spare cash and want a shirt or mug or something with my designs on it, you should check it out and maybe throw me some change? Please?
Here's some more fun stuff about me!
I may flip-flop between american and english spellings of words on this site. This isn't always intentional, but I don't want to change it.
My favourite colours are sky blue and fuchsia, which feature heavily on this site hehehe.
I have loved dragons ever since I was a little kid, and they're very much a part of me. My favorite "real" animals are raccoons, snakes, cats, deer, and parrots.
I have a dream of opening up a New Jersey style diner when I'm old, but that's if I'm ever able to retire.
Some of the artists I'm most inspired by are Marc Chaggall, Ken Sugimori, Shaun Tan, Dugald Steer, Rebecca Sugar and Natasha Allegri.
You can find more of my fictional interests in the Shrines section of the site.
I love a simple medium rare steak, and I'm something of a carnivore... I have trouble eating beans and some nuts so they may not feature much in my recipes (they make my teeth feel weird).
